This HLPF was closely monitored as it was seen as the first real opportunity for National Governments to demonstrate a strong commitment to the transformative aspirations outlined in the 2030 Agenda.

Getting ready for World Humanitarian Day – video on SRHR in humanitarian responses

 
 

Every year since 2009, the 19th of August is dedicated to recognize the commitment of people working in the humanitarian sector and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. The day was designated by the UN General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq.

SRHR of refugees and migrants not high on agenda at UN summit

 
 

On September 19th 2016 the UN General Assembly will host a high-level summit addressing large movements of refugees and migrants. In May, the UN Secretary General issued a report, "In safety and dignity: addressing large movements of refugees and migrants". The report provides recommendations in preparation for the summit but does not address the need to protect and promote the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of refugees and migrants.

The Center for Reproductive Rights: Global Advocacy Adviser (Geneva)

 
 

The Center seeks a Global Advocacy Adviser to support the work of the Global Advocacy team in the Global Legal Program and will report to the Director of Global Advocacy. The Global Advocacy Adviser will conceptualize and implement robust advocacy strategies to advance reproductive rights through UN bodies and human rights mechanisms in Geneva. Working under the supervision of the Director for Global Advocacy and in collaboration with program staff based in Geneva, New York, and across the globe, the Global Advocacy Adviser will advance advocacy initiatives to strengthen international human rights norms, draw greater attention to the status of women's reproductive rights globally, and leverage UN mechanisms to push for law and policy reform globally.

IPPF EN: Advocacy Officer (Brussels)

 
 

 

As part of the International Advocacy team, you will be responsible for monitoring, coordinating and implementing the Brussels-based EU international advocacy work of IPPF EN especially in relation to bi-regional policy processes and funding instruments (eg Cotonou agreement, Joint Africa EU strategy…). You will work closely with colleagues in the team as a liaison function between IPPF EN and the EU institutions and the Brussels based civil society networks taking up specific tasks as relevant for the promotion of SRHR. In addition, you will promote EU policy and funding opportunities at national level amongst IPPF EN member associations.

Towards a Common Framework for Measuring Government Spending on Family Planning
 
Governments in the global South are in a position to generate significant additional domestic public resources for funding family planning. However, budgets for family planning in many countries still remain far below what is actually required to meet needs.
