Standing #RightByHer: DSW shares upcoming debate during the EDD
Partners of the Right by Her campaign are organising a debate on June 18, during the European Development Days in Brussels, on the topic ‘Standing #RightByHer: Leaving no woman behind - Ensuring sexual and reproductive health and rights for women and girls globally to fully implement the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs’.
The debate’s objective is to present the key role of girls´ and women's sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in fully achieving the Agenda 2030 through interventions from civil society organisations working on SRHR at African and Latin American level. Looking at the African continent, speakers will present the State of the African Women report, which looks at the state of the implementation of the Maputo protocol on the rights of women and what CSOs are doing to promote and protect SRHR across the continent. From a Latin American perspective, the speakers will present the current regional status of Montevideo Consensus implementation with regards to sexual and reproductive rights, and the role that youth women leaders play in it, through lessons learned and local experiences. The debate will also capture the importance of EU development policies to advance women’s and girls’ SRHR globally.
More information can be found on the event page. In order to attend the debate, participants need to be registered for the European Development Days.
Participants will also have the possibility to meet Right by Her partners at the dedicated EDD stand on June 18 and 19, getting to know more about the State of the African Women report and state of play of women’s and girls’ SRHR in the African continent.
